Skandasana – Skanda is the name of Kartikeya, the god of War, whose birth forms the subject matter of Kumara-sambhava, the epic poem written by Kalidasa.

Technique for Skandasana

  1. Do Eka Pada Sirshasana.
  2. With an exhalation, bend the trunk forward and hold the outstretched right leg with both hands as in Paschimottanasana and rest the chin on the right knee.
  3. Extend the chin to prevent the leg from slipping off.
  4. Stay in the pose for about 20 seconds with deep breathing.
